On Monday, December 16th, the 2025 budget was discussed and voted on in the Walfer municipal council.

🌿Solution or political symbolism?

✅ The CSV/déi Gréng majority continues to actively purchase land.

❌ A total of €3 million (out of more than €9 million, including land purchases) will be invested next year in tiny houses, where only about 0.4% of our residents will be able to live.

🏡📑PAG - Where is it?

❌ The new General Development Plan (PAG) is still not finalized, leaving citizens without secure construction planning. Yet, this plan would simplify the commune's operations and align with current demographic and economic realities.

🎓School construction: 7 years and still no results 🤷🏻‍♂️

❌ Between 2005 and 2017, under the DP/LSAP coalition, the three school buildings and the Maison Relais were expanded. After 7 years of CSV/déi Gréng, there are still no concrete plans. The urgent expansion of the Bereldange school is still pending.

🛹A chance for our youth 🫶🏻

✅ Schoolyards and playgrounds continue to be developed.

❌ For our teenagers aged 14 to 18 (1/3 of Walfer's youth), who might not be part of a club or the youth center, there are still no concrete plans (such as a youth club or a dedicated meeting space).

⛏️Renovation but no innovation ⛲️

✅ Important renovation work at Becheler for residents and the clubhouse.

❌ Still no additional alternatives (such as a retirement home or intergenerational housing).

🎦Transparency – Yes, no, maybe? 🤔

❌ In 2018/19, citizen participation led to a plan to create a village center with short, medium, and long-term projects. However, still no budget has been allocated for its implementation.

❌ Broadcasting or recording municipal council meetings, which CSV had promised in their electoral program and included in the coalition agreement, has still not been implemented. Explanation: the implementation is said to be too complicated.

(However, this works perfectly well in other small municipalities, such as Roeser.)

🎭 Positive developments in culture & sports ⚽️🎾

✅ Studies for the modernization of the Centre Prince Henri.

✅ 25% of the budget dedicated to the renewal of sports infrastructure.

Despite the good intentions, after a thorough analysis and review of the budget, we unfortunately had to vote against it. ❌
